"An artist has got to be careful never really to arrive at a place where he thinks he's AT somewhere. You always have to realize that you are constantly in a state of becoming, you know? And as long as you stay in that realm you'll be alright."
-Bob Dylan, No Direction Home

Recently I've been focusing on not thinking about the details of the meaning or feeling of whatever you're doing creatively whether it be writing, sketching, painting or listening. But rather simply focusing on that natural act of creating. With this in mind you can create anything. And whatever you're focused on creating will naturally grow to genuinely fit you.
This to me, is what brings true satisfaction as an artist.

Lately, Bob Dylan has been all I want. It's essentially impossible not to dig everything he does.

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands, but in seeking with new eyes." - Proust

Read, write, sketch, REPEAT. This is what my days are. I have pictures of Bob Dylan, On the Road, and Woody Allen covering my walls. Got some old records to listen to on my new player. Hibernation has been suiting me just fine. But I really do appreciate good, friendly company from those I really love.
At the same time, I daily scheme some new way to save my money to take a trip this summer. I'm going to get an old film camera to record it in hazy colors.
I dug up these photos I took this Summer. Inevitably, I have some summer fever. But I'm alright waiting for it to arrive.

"Garrett actually bought his down Hudson before shooting started. He could literally drive it with no hands, he was so at one with that car. There were times when he was going 100 miles an hour while acting-and apparently, not looking at the road. But he always kept control."
-Walter Salles

Everything about On the Road gives me this incredible passion and itching energy for life. I'm just ready to get in a car and go. Preferably with my best mates.

"I would rather own little and see the world, than own the world and see little of it."

Recently, my passion has been in the art of writing strong emotions and dreams, sketching vigorously, and traveling wherever the heck I want. I feel I should be on the road. My heart has been pulling me towards the idea of getting out and seeing new places after I graduate rather than sitting and studying for four years. I really feel strongly towards the idea of road tripping coast to coast and leading a simpler life. A life where one week you're bunking at a friend's house out west, and the next week you're living in California in a cheap place looking for a job. And everyday I'd walk along the beach and write and sketch like mad. It'd all feel a bit mad, but oh it'd be perfect.

"In friendship, we think we have chosen our peers. In reality a few years' difference in the dates of our births, a few more miles between certain houses, the choice of one university instead of another, the accident of a topic being raised or not raised at a first meeting-any of these chances might have kept us apart. But, for a Christian, there are, strictly speaking no chances. A secret master of ceremonies have been at work. Christ, who said the disciples, 'Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you,' can truly say to every group of Christian friends  'Ye have not chosen one another but I have chosen you for one another.' The friendship is not a reward for our discriminating and good taste in finding one another out. It is the instrument by which God reveals to each of us the beauties of others."
-C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

As 2013 unfolds, I'm standing true in the validity of this quote. I'm learning it more and more every day. I've got a good feeling that 2013 is gonna be oh so fine.
