This time of year it feels like you're on the brink of something far more immense than you and suddenly the world feels overwhelmingly full of juvenescence.
Yesterday my friends and I adventured the entire day. I live for being spontaneous and running wild. With all of the windows rolled down, Elly (Luna) and I were laying on the flattened back seat, feeling the sun's warmth while Walk the Moon beat in the speakers. Cam's minivan is like a time capsule and inside it we are eternally young, flying down the road, together and fearless.

Pasted on Erika's wall and formed by cutouts from beautiful magazines are the words
TO BE ALIVE IS A MAGIC ART

And I think about this quote a lot. To me it means that despite when you're feeling down, or when everything's killing your vibe, there is still magic and beauty simply in the act of breathing in and out and letting your eyes close as you feel the world all around you.

BEFORE:
Driving south to see Young the Giant we had all the windows down, an infinite playlist of good jams blaring, and we could all feel spring in the pores of our bodies and souls. In the city the sun warmed everything and my friends and I were high on spring and hyper from anticipation.
AFTER:
For the encore they played Apartment, Mind Over Matter, and finished with My Body and it was totally mad and we all jumped and screamed/sang ourselves hoarse. Somehow it's a really good feeling to almost lose your voice after a concert. As we drove along the nighttime city avenues, everything felt right with the world. Good concerts are kinda magic to me.

I love this time of year when the snow begins to melt.
Driving along the familiar back country roads with MGMT blaring,
my window was down, my hand numb from the cold, my eyes
sneaking glances of the stars. You know spring and the infinite
golden summer are coming because, despite the cold, the truly youthful
have all got their heat cranked and their windows all the way down -
eager for the magic, restless in our shoes.
- poem by me, February 2014
This weekend filled my heart to the brim. My favorite part was when the sacred sun warmed my face as I drove around with friends listening to Open by Rhye and it was totally magic.

"When adults say, 'Teenagers think they are invincible' with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don't know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But the part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail."
- John Green, Looking For Alaska

Here's to the invincibility of youth. Here's to the weekend. Here's to staying golden.

The faces of the people on the boat turned golden
as the hot, burning summer sun sunk behind the forests
and reflected in the cool, pure waters.
But to me, your face was the sun,
warming and reviving everything it touched -
especially me.

The snow is still deep and cold, but spring is coming and I'm nostalgic for the golden, burning days of summer. These photos sum up February for me - being with the people I love most, restless for summer, comforted by each other.
