New Year's Eve was a beautiful, unexpected occasion. It was a small and mellow party and everyone was having such a great time talking and eating (and smoking) and just generally enjoying each other's company that we were was shocked by the time it was ten till midnight. I love that surreal, excitable, restless feeling of counting down and watching the ball drop with the people I love most in this world. It was magic when the confetti exploded and rained on all of us as we yelled and laughed, hugging and reeling in the new year. We also danced for two hours after midnight and my (very white) friend rapped for us and it was fantastic. I know this all sounds really normal and ordinary for a New Year's Eve party and it happens every year and blah blah blah but really....this year's was just really wonderful and extraordinary.
