New weeks are something I treasure. They bring new inspiration and thoughts and ideas and creativity. I'll write more soon but for now I just wanted to share a snippet from my day. Today I discovered new music. My brilliant cousin Ian is away at college therefore when I go to visit Rilla I steal CD's from his shelves that he's left at home. Because you know they say a main factor to staying creative is to listen to new music. I grabbed a stack of CD's last month and have listened to them at intervals. But today I grabbed The Rip Tide. And now I am in love. His voice is music to my ears. East Harlem is perfection.

Coffee, Friday night cooking, sketching in my room listening to perfect music, brilliant late night conversations, cigars, and the start of the weekend. This weekend shall bring sushi and movies and cooking with the lovely Rilla. How inspired my days have been. My room has become where I live late at night when I'm in those exceptionally inspired moods. My room is the only place I can go for peace to listen to music and think and sketch, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

My weekend was perfect filled with Friday night cooking while brilliant music played, a long perfect conversation with my dear Rilla, late night coffee by the fire (also with Rilla) in plaid pajamas dreaming of Summer, a video shoot where I got to dance all day, staying up until the early morning being inspired by magazines, and Downton Abbey Sunday night while eating a delicious salad.

So, here's to the new week, darlings!

It seems appropriate to listen to A Sunny Day in Glasgow, School of Seven Bells, and Slow Club these Winter days. They all are perfectly inspirational to kick off the week. I relish these long nights when I can journal and sketch and have good conversations with brilliant people. This alone is reason enough to love Winter.

I live for these leisurely long weekends to be around brilliant people or simply by myself reading magazines in my bed, listening to good music and sketching. 

2012 has been wonderful so far. If the events that have occurred are any inclination of what this year will hold, it will be a brilliant year. In a whirlwind of going out to eat delicious soups, shopping for books, dancing the Charleston late at night with fantastic people, Friday nights spent simply talking and joking, and utterly brilliant conversations in the car during long Winter nights, I've also had cherished time to myself.

It snowed this week and I remembered why I always look forward to Winter so much. Among other reasons I love it for the long inspirational nights that stretch full with creativity till the early hours of the morning, I love it for the stark and stunning landscape along the horizon, and I love it for coffee and talks by the fire.

I hope your weekend is lovely, darlings! 

Tomorrow night my dear Rilla and I will make popcorn and coffee and watch the newest Downton Abbey. Yes please.

Illumination.

I've been working on a messy collage on my wall cutting out editorials and clippings and beautiful advertisements from all my magazines. With this fresh start of the year I find I also need to give my room a fresh start and clean my workspace. And this time of year I spend so much time in my room creating that it needs to be fresh and inspiring. Every day brings that desire for me to create and it feels wonderful. I adore Winter for the long inspirational nights it brings. My home becomes my haven more than it is any other time of year. Tonight was one of those lovely Winter nights when my home was exceptionally comforting and I was in my room listening to brilliant music working on a sketch. Miami Horror was playing on my stereo and it was brilliant and I was compelled to have a mini photo shoot. To finish the evening my mum, dad, sister and I caught up on some Downton Abbey.
